What is a good entry level headset and mic for Vatsim use. Also can I assign the PTT command to a joystick button?

Logitech have a good range of headsets, Almost anything you buy should do, as long as its not too cheap. =]
The more the spend, the better headset.

And, not too sure about the PTT Joystick binding.
But it should be possible =D

For the PTT to work you need to purchase the registered version of FSUIPC

I use a Platronics Audio 650... I've used several other headsets from Logitech, Sennheiser, and another Platronics and the 650 is the best I've used.

To bind a joystick button to PTT, you can either use FSUIPC or software provided by your joystick/yoke manufacturer. For my CH yoke, I use their software which lets me assign buttons to keyboard keys, so I can use either my left trigger or left control button as PTT.
