Ummmmm..."A day or two" I believe was the quote from Brian given both on the 24th and 28th of July on his zeroAltitude webpage. How many of you watched the Start Trek movie, I think it was "The Wrath of Kahn" where Capt Kirk communicated using cryptic numbers the amount of time it would take to repair the Enterprise in days but it actually meant hours? Is that what is going on here? Do days really mean weeks or months or heaven forbid.......years?

Maybe an unexpected "bug" crept in to his ability to communicate the "Big News". Who knows but I do know we got our chains yanked again.

While I can't say specifically the schedule for the next few days, Joel and I talked briefly today and hope to have some good news for you pretty soon.

Humm yes he did say days, but maybe it was trekie code for weeks who know, I'm not sure Brian is even a trekie Laughing

And ya your right it was The Wrath of Kahn by far the best trek movie ever made, not that I have seen any of them Embarassed

He's likely waiting for a company to buy his masterpiece.
Or wait.... perhaps his computer crashed cause he hasn't said anything on here since April....

I have a secondary machine I am going to try to re-format and I will put it on there. It could be my vista as to why the third party stuff isn't working. Or maybe I will just go back to FS2004.

FSX is over-rated anyway.

I have been patient I must say since my last post. I gave the development team a long time to finish things up.

" FSX is over-rated anyway. "

OK, its not my place to say it but here goes.

A few hours before Brian's post I caught up with Joel and asked for a public beta release as is which he was in general agreement. I'm not in a position to comment further except to say no chains are being yanked.

FSX is overrated. Even a member of the dev team stated that it ran solidly on their machines and when asked what type of machines they were using, stated that they were using 8 core machines.

I understand that the FSX team have given up on any more mods to FSX and are working on the next version at this time.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think not.

8 core? Brian and I spent some time last year with a number of the devs at Reno where we demonstrated Acceleration.

Intel had sent us the best machines possible at that time which were dual core and they ran FSX without issue.

It is well documented that FSX is CPU hungry. The more you can throw at it, the better it will perform.

I went from a quad core to a dual quad core (total of 8 cores) and have noticed a huge difference in frame rates as well as over all quality with the slider set very high. (no they are not maxed out, but close)

It is a very enjoyable experience and it better be, as I am going to be paying for this machine for some time to come. Embarassed

That's kinda like saying my Enzo Ferrari F60 is expensive and goes fast!

But unfortunately not everyone here can fork out $6000 for a XPS720.

I'm running an intel core2 2.66ghz system with 4gig of ram and a 256meg nivida 7500 card. Some what of a lower end machine by todays standards.

My sliders are in the mid to high range and locked at 15fps. FSX is very flyable and very enjoyable.

15fps does not sound very high based on FS9, but since SP2 for FSX came out. Your fps is no longer a vaid way to judge FSX preformance.
