Ok I really need your help guys...Ive been trying to solve this issue forever and its just not working. I have opened the ports on my router and even made a DMZ but I still cannot see any other planes connecting to vatsim. Ive unplugged the router and just hooked up the modem to my computer and I still get the same results so I know my router doesnt have anything to do with this. I had Mcafee installed but I used the removal tool about 4 times now and made sure it was gone. I even used the Norton tool even though I never had there software and still I cant see any other planes. I have disabled Ad-Aware even though that probably has nothing to do with it with still the same results. FS is running in admin mode as well as windows SP2 because I have vista. SB3 is running in admin mode and windows SP2 and Ive been tried FSInn in admin mode and windows SP2 and it still gives me the same results no planes. Ive reinstalled FS and SB3 numerous of times with no luck. SB3 now wont even let me connect to a server even though it use to let me do that. Im also getting those weird characters in the boxes for the connect menu. I can connect to vatsim in FSInn but I still cant see any planes..I always get this could lobbly launch failed could not connect to host. Please try again message from FS everytime FSInn tries to connect. When I connect manually it works but I still cant see any planes...I would really apperciate it if ANYONE can help me with this because I dont know what is going wrong and I think Ive tried everything
Also this all started when I had to install this cisco systems program to be able to let me connect to my network when I was in my college dorms...it installed the ciscos program and mcafee anti virus and Ive since then uninstalled both programs but i still dont get any planes. |

Who makes your modem? Some double as a router and may have UPNP setting in it you will need to turn off.
As for the Norton/McAfee crap, still could still be stuff sitting on your system. Causing issues. You could try and run the removal tool in windows safe mode. That will stop any of the leftover apps from not being removed. Windows also has a clean up tool you can download from the Microsoft site that does a force clean up of these left over crap. |

you got a link to this microsoft tool and does it work for vista?? I will try your suggestion in safe mode...hope it helps..Also simens makes my modem its a speedstream 4100 I hooked up my router again so I believe everything gets fowarded to the router and bypasses the modem if my settings are still correct. The router I have is a Linksys BEFW11S4 which has UPNP disabled. I also checked the config for my modem and it has nothing about UPNP n any of the pages so who knows.. |

| I am having the same problem. I've tried everything but I am only able to see one aircraft when manually connecting to the multiplayer session. I use Bitdefender so I dont know if that could be the problem. I have a fresh installation of windows vista ultimate 32 bit. And yes I do use a router. Can someone please help me? |

Explanation: For FS2004 (i.e. FS9), Squawkbox 3 (SB3) do use local TCP/IP DirectX FS-Multiplayer connection only to make VATSIM aircrafts visible for you in your FS. Other data-tranfer to FS2004 use other technologies, SB3 use FSUIPC Memory mapping for other data-transfer.
- Check Direct X version 9c or later.
- Try FS in window mode (not in full screen mode), just to ensure you will see antivirus/firewall messages
- If router, for SB3 disable UPnP in router (This is not a recommendation for FSInn user).
- If router, you may try connect PC direct to internet to exclude router issues.
- UPnP in Windows XP services should also be disabled (but it should be default disabled in XP).
- Squawkbox 3 connect automatically to FS2004, but may fail. Look FS2004 Multiplayer status and try to connect to Squawkbox 3 by hand from FS, if required. Use PC local IP-address 127.0.0.1 (if you use Squawkbox 3 at same PC as FS ) to connect FS2004 to SB3.
- You may try set antivirus some low-secure setting.
- Or try an uninstall of antivirus in PC as it is proved sometime help. (uninstall is typical the only way to complete disable an antivirus). MAKE SURE you have firewall, a router or XP built in firewall enabled. Note you may need UNINSTALL antivirus. I shouldnt worry to try a flight just connect to VATSIM without antivirus, ive fly VATSIM two year without any antivirus.
Ive been having this issue for month and I really want it fixed......Dont highjack my thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| I have Windows Vista and had the same problem. I got the removal tool from McAfee, and removed all of their programs from my system. I can now see other planes. McAfee was called, and their lab is testing this. If they come up with a workaround, I will let you all know. You CANNOT just turn off the McAfee products. They still block it. And you CANNOT just remove them with the Windows uninstaller. You HAVE to use the McAfee removal tool, which you can get from their site. Hope this helps. |

Here is the link for the windows clean up tool, and yes it works under vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Did you follow the setup help at the top of this forum on how to setup your linksys router?
Also have to you checked to see if the windows firewall is running? If it is you'll need to tell it to alow SB/FS to use the internet.
Also use the run commnad on your start menu and run msconfig.exe check the services tab and see if there are any left over McAfee services loading at start up and disable them |

Used the tools and it still didnt work.
Also I know my router is setup correctly...Ive been flying on FS for 5 years now with the same router and never had these problems..I also know all my settings are correct as nothing ever changes in it.
Windows firewall is running because on vista when u disable UPNP you have to cut it on I have allowed FS and SB to go through the firewall. This allowed me to finally be able to have SB connect to vatsim again but FS still doesnt show planes. Ive also allowed the ports 23456, 9801 or whatever that FSD server port is to go through with no luck. Also does windows firewall run in safe mode to?
Ran msconfig and it didnt show no mcafee services or any other anti-virus services running. So Im at a lost. Although I know its something on my computer thats blocking it because when I ran FS in safe mode I saw planes...I just dont know what that program is. |

| If your using Vista 32bit go get ZoneAlarm its the best in my mind, if your using Vista 64bit, the windows one works fine, just tell it to let FS and SB passed it and there will be no problem. Because you can see one plane now its a firewall issue |
