Hi,
I tried to create a sms file for a plane of an airline that is not in the list of airlines in SquawkBox. I want to do this to share it with my friends that they can see my plane properly.
I tried creating the sms file with the SMSCreator and I think i did everything right, but I still can't select the airline in squawkbox. Am I doing something wrong, or is it just not possible to use it that way.
Thanks a lot for your help,
Dom |

| If the airline is not in Squawbox, it is not possible. |

| I though that was the purpose of the smscreator, to add airlines??? Cos I also saw sms files from VA's to add their airlines to squawkbox on avsim. |

AFAIK they use only already present airlines.
The SMS Creator helps to let you see the airlines available in Squawkbox with AI packages. It is not intended to add NEW airlines.
You could only "recycle" an airline that is already there and only used very rarely. Create liveries, create an according SMS file and spread both to let your friends see you in your livery. |

Alright. Thanks for that helpful answer.
Do you know if there is any other way to make a not in SquawkBox existing livery visible to my friends? |

You will have to add your airline to the Fictional.txt file that is located in the SquawkBox folder.
For example, for our VA we had to add the following:
_CX Canadian Xpress Airlines
You will have to make sure that your friends do the same. |

I think I just found out why it doesn't work for me. For some reason, SquawkBox got installed twice in two different locations. Don't ask me why, but one was installed under Programs and the other was installed in the same folder as FSX, which is on a second disk.
I have always tried to add my airline in the SquawkBox folder, that is under Programs, but this seems to be the inactive installation. I will try to add it in the second installation folder of SquawkBox and hope that this will work.
Thanks a lot for your time. I will report back if it worked. |
