Hi everyone-

Before I start describing my problem, I just want to inform you all that I've been Googleing this problem for the past two and a half days now and I haven't found a solution. I uninstalled FSX completely, ran a registry cleaner to remove all traces of it (including my serial key), and deleted all FSX folders in my AppData/Roaming folder, as well as my Program Files (x86) directory. I hope I haven't missed any important FAQs on this forum and if I have, I apologize.

The issue that I'm having is that I can't see the "Addon Menu" or "Modules" equivalent in FSX. The only addon I've installed at this point is SquawkBox 4 and nothing else. I have already installed SP1 & SP2 and am running FSX Deluxe. I've also installed the FSX SDK as described [url=http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=SDK_Installation_(FSX)#FSX_Deluxe_SP2_users]here[/url] as I've read on several forums that I need SimConnect (although I still do not fully understand what that is).

Code:
The details of my computer's specifications are below:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU      M 480   @ 2.67GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7 GHz
4GB RAM
DirectX 11

Code:
And I am running the following:

Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe (w/ SP1 & SP2)
Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK
SquawkBox 4 for FSX

Please note that I have no other addons installed.

I appreciate all of your help and guidence. Thank you so much.

Try NOT to install FSX into the usual programme folders, use another folder like "C:\Game\FSX".
SB4 has problems with the writing of settings etc. into the programme folder, as it is protectet by windows 7.

Georg-

Sorry for the delayed response in getting back to you. Things have been a little busy in my professional life, but nonetheless I was able to work on your suggestion earlier this morning.

I uninstalled FSX, made sure all FSX folders were gone (Program Files, Program Data, AppData, etc.) and ran a registry cleaner to remove any of the remaining registry keys and reinstalled it on my C: drive under C:\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator X

After installing SP1 & SP2 (and restarting), I installed SquawkBox 4 and it still does not show up on my menu Sad

Any other suggestions?

I've noticed that a lot of these errors (after reading a lot about this online) are originating in OS Win 7 64-bit. However, I read somewhere that Norman was using Vista 64-bit, so it leads me to wonder whether it's a Win 7 issue or a 64-bit issue. Very strange.

Does anyone know anything in regards to this?

I have Windows 7 64-bit and no problems with SB. But that does not help you ...

George-

I'm going to try your suggestion again. When I reinstalled FSX directly to my C: drive, I never ran it after the install. I just went directly to installing SP1 & SP2. However, after reading this post at PMDG's website about reinstalling FSX, I read this:

Quote:
Run the sim once, going through the validation process and then loading it up to the point where you see the main interface. You do not need to load into the sim itself, load an aircraft or anything like that. The purpose of this step is to initialize the FSX.cfg file and a few other processes that get the sim ready to use. You will likely experience trouble if you try to go directly to installing the Service Packs or Acceleration without doing running the sim once first to initialize it.

This would (hopefully) explain at least part of this issue.

I'm reinstalling now and I'll be sure to report back. Thank you both for helping me with this. I understand it's all volunteer and I know you all have more important things to do, but it's very thoughtful of you.

Okay. This issue is officially driving me nuts! Shocked I can't figure this thing out! Should SquawkBox 4 be installed in my Program Files (x86) directory or on my C: drive? Also, what is SimConnect?

Squawkbox shoud not be installed in the Program Files oder Program Files (X86) folder, as they are protected.
Uhm ... do you have FSUIPC? AFAIK you don't need simconnect for SB4, but FSUIPC.

Ahh! We've solved one of our problems! The "Add-Ons" menu has finally appeared along my menu bar! However, SquawkBox still doesn't show up Sad All I see is FSUIPC. I've successfully installed FSX on my C: drive once again and have installed SquawkBox within my C: drive, as well.

Any suggestions?
