So, SB3 is a VATSIM-only product after all?

Ah, I get it. I know of no reason why this would be the case though. SB3 follows all the usual Windows install/uninstall rules and attempts to play nice with other applications on the system and other FS add-ons. That being said, I haven't tested the particular case you're talking about.

I believe we have strayed from point of the topic, however unimportant to some, and here's my thoughts.

The point here is that SB3 is now being molded primarily for VATSIM use. There are certain protocols and authentication processes and other querks (I'm not any kind of developer, I don't know the specifics) that are needed to properly connect to each network. As has been stated before, a person could connect to IVAO, but there are some things (such as voice and models) that do not work correctly, because SB3 does not have the proper coding to communicate in the exact manner IVAO currently does with it's own client.

Joel has said, in numerous posts, that IVAO has not always been communicative, and has not shown the kind of interest VATSIM has. IVAO does have it's own client, and may not be jumping out of their pants to use any others. VATSIM has SB3 and FSINN in the works, and has been using only SB to this point (2.3 and X), and is very open to a new version.
I don't like VATSIM better because they were initially more cooperative about SB3, I like them because of the active USA region and organization of ATC there. Very simply, and rather obviously, IVAO had no important need for a new client, so they didn't show the same enthusiasm for the client. That is not Joel's fault nor anyone else from VATSIM. Because in a sense IVAO rejected SB3 during the initial stages, he does not have any obligation to put extra effort into making it available for IVAO now.

There was the conclusion earlier that the switching between two clients for two networks is not a huge deal. If one wants to jump between networks, that's fine, but no one is making you do this, you can just as easily stick to one network, if needing to use two different clients is a problem.

There were reasons that the networks split in the first place; divisions on how to run the network. However unfortunate, the two do compete with each other. We may not like that fact, but it's the truth, and each network will always be trying to out-do the other so that theirs can have the most traffic and appeal. Software clients will be one of the ways to appeal to pilots, and IVAO only made it easy for VATSIM to take an upper hand. Personally, I will stick to the network with the best USA region, and right now it's VATSIM. Of course, this is because I'm an American. Most Europeans will do the same for Europe. Maybe sometime in the future, management differences will be overcome and the networks united.

Again, the point is that IVAO did not immediately jump to integrate SB3, not that VATSIM did something to monopolize it. SB3 was offered to be developed for all the networks, it's just that not all the networks wanted it. Stop complaining and ask IVAO to put more effort into it, if you really find it important for them to use the client.

im posting because im a newbie in the world of flight simulation, and as in many communities (online and offline) there are many small wars/fights.

I first joined vatsim when i learned how to flight a cessna and small jets, BUT i was already using Windows 7 due to XP problems with crackling sound and low framerates. Problem was the vatsim client didnt/DOESNT work out-of-the-box with Windows 7,

<snip>

i wont EVER return to them, not even if they pay me.

quote removed.

No wonder that you got banned! The way you write and think, you make me feel that YOU have a problem ...

a) If you use Windows 7, which is right at the moment BETA - why do you expect support for it?
b) If you tried to get help in the way you write here in the forum, it is no wonder you got banned.
c) Believe it or not, Squwkbox is VATSIM software, made for the VATSIM network and under VATSIM regulations - the same as IVAO has it's own software and their software will not work on VATSIM.

If you can't live with it: Start your own network, programme your own software and flood your own forums with that nazi sh*t!

Iriski,

Aside from your post being wrong in so many ways, what ever gave you the feeling such hatred would be welcome on this forum?

Cheez, I must have been in a very bad mood that day, can't even remember what I posted back then. Either way, I'm truly sorry for anything wrong I might have said, but prolly I grow up and I admit my errors, sometimes I posted on the forums with my head on the loose so it was definitely something wrong!!

Again, I'm sorry and I apologize to all.
