|
|
I can't see any help on connecting in External mode in the manual, so I'll just have to ask here.
I'm trying to connect to VATSIM with SB3 in external mode. It says connection timed out. It connects fine in Module mode.
I start FS9, get to the gate, then open SB, then try and connect. That's how I've been doing it.
What am I doing wrong?
Cheers

Sounds like the EXE is blocked by your firewall.....
That would explain why the Module works... |

| Ugh! I disabled the firewall temporarily to test it. Nothing. I'll try again. |

| Nope, I looked in Norton's firewall program list whatsit and there are two Squawkbox.exes in there, both with 'Permit All'. I disabled the firewall again and it still won't connect. |

| It is the only thing I can think of... Is this on top of XP SP1 or SP2? Does XPSP2 firewall get disabled when Norton is installed? |

Sorry - I missed your "module connects fine" in the original post. |

Try the follwing. Delete both entries in Norton. Run SB3 and when the warning appears add the rules.
My newest Norton was 2003 or something like that and he didn't liked 2 programs listed.

Just did that, it asked for permission, I granted it, and it still didn't connect.

Up to date, patched up.... the latest version.
Liveupdate does this on most products from Symantec / Norton I think? Otherwise they may have a newer version on the site... |
