Hi,
Last night I made my first real couple of flights since the release of SquawkBox. It reminded me why I got involved with this hobby in the first place as I really enjoyed it! I was also trying out the new PMDG B1900C and I must say that's a nice aircraft. I highly recommend it.
Anyway, my second flight was to Seattle and there were lots of aircraft on the ground. On final I was told to go around because of another aircraft flying across the glide path. About 5 miles into the missed approach pattern the controller said on voice that he lost me on the scope and I realized FS9 was frozen. I never got it back and started having repeated disconnects and freezes for several more attempts.
I say all this to let you guys know that I am dead serious about getting to the bottom of these particular bugs. I know many of you were waiting anxiously for SB3's release only to have insurmountable issues like this. Hang in there--I'll do whatever I can to get them fixed.
Three green,
Joel |

| I have this problem, but it ALWAYS happens in the PMDG 1900, and LDS767, it never happens in any freeware aircraft. |

This could mean that it's system load related. But that simply means that system load from something else may also cause the problem.
I also flew built-in aircraft all through the development of SB3. When I saw the hang it was the first time I used the PMDG B1900C.

Joel,
I have had no problems with SB3 since its initial release. Now with the new version you put out, I keep getting FS9 errors and FS9 shutting down. Once it said it was in the msvcr70.dll and last night, it said it was an unknown module. I have not installed anything else since SB3 so I am going with the patch as the problem. Something was introduced in that patch the my cpu did not like for whatever reason. My computer does not freeze up like some are reporting , just the FS9 program. Since going back to the original exe file that I kept, I have not had the problem. Very wierd but with so many different systems out there, its hard to pinpoint it. I think for some reason it does not like FS9 smoothing the aircraft postions but thats just IMO. I go these errors while using the LDS767. I think Joel that these system heavy use of resources type aircraft are giving most of our computers a run for there money. I have a 3.2Ghz with 1GB of RAM and a ATi9800 vid card and my system still has to work hard. I think making FS9 assume a more prominent role in smoothing the aircraft is what is mucking things up for me in regards the patch. FS9 is already working hard doing everything else let alone trying to smooth out multiple aircraft. Letting SB3 handle the smoothing option is the way to go at least for me. |

Well if you disable the FS smoothing option, do the hangs go away? There wasn't much else of substance changed in the patch, except a code change that was meant to eliminate a crash.

Hmmm, curious. If you run all the tests in dxdiag does everything pass? Sounds like it might be a DirectPlay configuration problem. For the record, I really hate working with DirectPlay.

| It started with me on the LDS767 only also, then the PMDG 1900, and now FS just shuts down on all planes. But it shuts down like B777ER said, the PC doesn't freez, the FS screen turns black, then the error report comes up and it just closes. And its always in level flight so far for me, haven't had a problem when I was departing, or on approach. |

If you fix this Joel your the man. I like SB3 better then FSinn because of the easy use access.
When i can fly at Copenhagen or Oslo without freezing because of traffic ill be really happy! |

Ran the tests in dxdiag and passed on all of them. Sounds like Pilots12 has the exact same problem I had so at least it was just not me getting them.
Also Joel, the last freeze I got before going back to the orginal exe was when traffic first came within range while on approach. |

Hi Gang.
I just did a flight from EGCC to EGSS, and for most of the way down there I was experiencing freezes varying from a second to about six seconds while other pilots joined or left the session!,
it makes it difficult on the approach I must add, but, I still think that SB3 is a vast improvement on the older Sb2.3, which was made for earlier versions of FS,
Nice Job Joel and the Gang, (sounds like a pop group- "Joel and the gang") |

| The problem you describe has nothing to do with the discussion in this thread. |

I just installed SB3.0.2 and connected with my buddy sitting right next to me on the ground at KPIT. We must've been conected for a good hour, taxiied around each other for a bit testing out a Dash-8. Everything seemed to work fine, voice and all.
Then we started to taxi to the rwy to fly a pattern. About 100 feet down the rwy my screen went black for about 20 seconds and then the microsoft window popped up saying it was shutting down FS.
BTW - I checked after I installed SB3.0.2 and "Allow Flight Simulator to smooth Plane positions" was unchecked and I left it that way.
Just like B777ER, I did not have any real problems like this until I put 3.0.2 on my PC. |

| While I am not happy your having problems, I am glad that you are getting the exact same thing as I was. I have gone back to the orginal 3.00 exe and have not had a problem since. something somewhere in 3.02 is causing this to happen. I get the same black screen followed by the FS9 error window. Lord knows what it is. It coulb be that it did not like being installed over the original or any number of things. Thank God I am not a programmer. I have faith Joel will sort it out. |
