Unfortunately, the panel freezing problem under Windows has not been solved with the latest update, Version 3.0.4. I described this problem under the seperate topic lower, Big Freeze. In summary, in Windows, the panel suddenly freezes. I have found a way out by going Full Screen. I am now getting use to fly with Full Screen. But returning to Windows, the problem has gone away but only for a short while. I prefer flying in Windows because it gives me access to the task bar directly without having to switch back to Windows from Full Screen. I like SB3 and I am hoping that the developer will find time to look at this problem soon. Would appreciate any comments.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but I suspect that the problem is with your system, though you really haven't provided much in the way of system information. I run in Windowed mode ALL the time (I hate full screen), and have not had any problems.

What we may need to know is some basic sytstem info such as CPU type, Video card/drivers, memory. Also, are you using the SB3 module, or are you running the external SB3 executable? I'm sure that we can find a cure for you, it's just a matter of narrowing down the circumstances and ultimately the cause.

Any firewalls or routers in the equation?

I'm not an expert, but the video cards are basically the same with the two of you arent' they?

Hi,

I don't think it's the video card as I have a Radeon 9800 and the same problem (at least with SB3.03).

Other than that I found that running SB3.03 externally improves both on disconnects and freezes in hight traffic situations.
(Guessing: could it be that SB3 still freezes when running externally but letting FS continue because SB3 is in it's own process?)

Will try 3.04 today hopefully...

Cheers!

P.S:
Firewall: Sygate Personal Firewall (no change if deactivated)
Router: DLink 604 (can't deactivate Very Happy )

Hi Maurice!.. I suspect this is not an SB3 issue. Pls try uninstalling your current Nvidia drivers, and downloading the old 71.89 version.

http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_71.89.html

Theese drivers are the most stable, and I am still using them on my Geforce 6800GT.

Post back here if your problem isnt solved with theese drivers.

I have returned to an older driver, 71.89, and the freeze problem appears to be gone, so far at least. I have tried different flight scenerios and the panel freeze did not show up. It is still strange that I had been using the most recent driver,78.01, for the past several months every day without any problems. I had no reason to suspect the driver.
Thankyou to Craig, Freedy and Alain. It is nice to have friends you do not know!!!

Appreciate the FAQ, but the problem isn't resolved yet, is it?

Both the com box and SB strip freeze the area of the window that they occupy. I've tried all the Nvidia drivers you care to name, panels and aircraft....same result.

So, with Panel Studio, I tweaked a panel to allow "dead" spaces at the bottom just for these two boxes....until...I hope, a solution is found.
