| I use serveinfo to find a controlled tower etc. I want the interaction to be voice and so I look for the icon that suggests that controller is using voice. I then load up FS and SB and get over to that airport to observe as a newbie. I connect, right click on the controllers info, tue comm 1 to the controllers frequency but 99 times out of 100 its text only and at the bottom of the SB box, it says text only. Why then is servinfo stating that voice is being used? |

| Have you asked the controller if he is text only? I'm not sure of the numbers but I would say less than 1% of all the controllers out there are text only controllers |

| It's been a long time since I've found a text only controller since VATSIM did away w/ the voice certification for controllers, and the problem may be with your radios or sb setup. Another way to listen to live vatsim atc is to browse voice servers using servinfo and connecting directly via rogerwilco. |

Please don't do that, rogerwilco needs to be set up correctly or it will cause problems for everyone else on that server. If your going to sit and watch and learn do it with FS and SB running. The voice servers are not there just for back ground noise well your doing other things. If you want to just have some back ground ATC noise, go to LiveATC and listen to the real thing |

Just make sure you don't have voice activation enabled... I meant connect directly w/ RW while observing w/in FS. Listening to VATSIM atc as just background noise would drive me nuts. Liveatc.net ftw |

No there is more than that, that must be done, so thats why I say unless your using a really old computer running FS2000 and SB2.3 (There are a few out there) there is no need to have RW

Again, SB3 comes with a full voice software built in so why would you run RW on the side with it, that would really mess things up.
So do not use RW with Vatsim unless your computer is too old to run SB3 |
