To my knowledge nothing has changed. Same rules as SB3 and AV apply to SB4.

Like i've been saying for years (yes its been years) the issue is not with FS/SB its the AV software. You can use other programs than AVG but it seems to work the best. You can use what ever you want if you know how to tell your AV software to ignore SB/FS. This can not be done in Norton. McAfee for XP is ok but not McAfee for Vista. Not sure aobut Trend Micro

Im using Trend Micro and have no problems. If there is one put FS in the exception list then it will not be checked.

Cheers

Good news......

I used BidDefender with Vista/SB3/FS9 then FSX - tried all the fixes and still had the invisible aircraft problem.

Just downloaded SB4. Fired up FSX and went to a field with traffic and can see the other a/c fine.

I haven't alterted anything...running BitDefender/FSX/SB4 as installed with no changes.

Not techy enough to explain why.....somethings changed with the BitDefender working with FSX/SB4....just posting the info in case anyone has the same AV.

Hope Joel/Brian get as many "thanks you's" as they have brickbats over the last year!

Thanks guys....now I really will be able to see you in the air Joel!

I use avast! on my sim PC at home and have had absolutely no issue with it and SB4. It also has less bloat than AVG after its recent "upgrade."

That's why I uninstalled AVG 8 and reinstalled version 7.5. The new version of AVG is WAY too much of a resource hog. And 7.5 still works just fine. Google AVG 7.5 to find the old version if you made the mistake of upgrading to 8 and aren't happy.

Hi, I have been having the problem of not seeing other aircraft using Vista / AV. I use Trend Micro...I already paid too much for it and didn't want to remove it like other users. However, with SB4 I now can see other users using Trend Micro.

I just thought I would share...and here is a link to enable TM to allow or block certain programs. Just follow for SB / FSX.

http://esupport.trendmicro.com/support/viewxml.do?ContentID=EN-1034409&id=EN-1034409

Just thought I would share my experience - not sure what others have found.

I may have a solution to SquawkBox being incompatible with Trend Micro if you look at my post in the Tech Support Forum:

How can I keep my computer on to download the antivirus programs?
My computer is shutting itself down automatically doesn't give me enough time to download or look at anything. How do I keep it open for awhile to download some antivirus programs?
