|
|
This program works for FSX and FS2004. It generates an SMS file for SquawkBox that will display the correct model/livery when flying online, it will use *ANY* AI traffic package and make it visible while flying online! no more VIP or Paper Planes!
The Readme.txt file includes an advanced users section that even tells you how to make it display correct AI traffic EVEN if the users connected in the online session have their clients configured incorrectly!
Where to download?

The 'format' is the same. But, the 'instructions' I wrote ONLY apply to FSX.
it will work in FS9 bt you'll need to do some extra steps. for example. you'll need to create a 'temporary' directory with AI A/C on it and then you'll need to run the SMS Generator.
After the SMS file is created, you'll need to copy the AI A/C from the temporary directory back to the default Aircraft folder in FS9 and thats it.
Remember, the SMS Creator does two things:
1) it CREATES an SMS file so SB4 can use your AI aicraft
2) But it also modifies your AI so they 'comply' with what SB4 needs in order to display this traffic.
The SMS Generator will ONLY generate entries for VALID equipment ICAO codes and Airlines recognized by SB, the good thing about this is that the resulting SMS files are 100% accurate representations of the traffic that SB4 can (and will) display. |

I've updated the package and edited the original post. It now officially supports FS2004 as well, same download link.
Enjoy, |

Hi,
i have tried this now with some AI aircrafts, but it seems that no Gears on the ground will be shown. Is this normal?
Thanks,
Max |

Hi Max,
yes... no matter what AI you use, the gears wont display. I think this is a SB issue, hopefully fixed in future versions of SB |

Max,
Since this seem to be most frequently asked question, I've decided to include this as an alternative feature (it will NOT be ON by default). I've re-uploaded the SMS generator with this new change. You will need to EDIT the actual script and change a variable there, read the instructions or open the script in notepad.
The downside to this 'hack' is that the AI will also show gear down at 30.000ft, but since you only see them on the ground, guess it will no be a big deal for some.
I had to change the contact point for the gear extension/retraction time to 0 to indicate (or trick) SB into thinking this is a fixed gear A/C |

Hi, I want to use IVAO Aircrafts for the Squawkbox. At the end is a list of Aircrafts that are not working.
I get these error message:
WARNING: The AI in the folder IVAO_A333 does not contain an ICAO code. It will be ignored and NOT displayed in SquawkBox. There are two possible reasons for this, either the AI Developer forgot to insert the code in the [General] atc_model= section or this a/c type is ficticious. Press OK to continue generating the SMS file.

So glad I do validation!!
Felix, some are INVALID icao codes, that why they don't work, its in the readme file, some others are valid, so don't know why they don't work. |

The most are not so important, but the Airbus, Fokker and Embraer would be good.
Edit: I sent you an aircraft.cfg via PM.

Hi, sounds cool!
I tried it with some WOAI things, it seems to work but the gear thing didn't change anything, the planes still always had gear up.
Also, here is the weird thing. If I just install the WOAI planes, it all works, but after converting them using the script, they work in Squawkbox but don't work with AI anymore.. which is not very convenient.
So I tried this, inside my aicraft folder (from the FS9 folder) I created another subfolder called WOAI for SB. And I placed all of my WOAI models converted for SB in there. I then took my original WOAI planes (not converted using the script) and placed them directly into my Aircraft folder. Like this, the AI traffic in FS9 works with the WOAI models, but now though for some reason, Squawkbox displays my plane for all of the other models, even though it should work with the WOAI models.
Any idea?
Thanks,
Phil |

My Idea: Don't do such things. The models for SB only work, of they are in a single subfolder like the other aircrafts in that folder.

Thanks for the tip Georg, I'll fix that.
To the developer, is it normal that the AI traffic within the sim doesnt work after using the script? I think it's probably because the names inside the aircraft.cfg change, and the traffic.bgl files in the scenery/world folder reference to the old names..? What do you think? |
